A university professor, Dr Beauvais chairs the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Université Notre-Dame d'Haïti and has taught for more than thirty years, including at the Duke Global Health Institute. Trained at the State University of Haiti, Johns Hopkins University, the Cleveland Clinic and Duke University, he completed a fellowship in IVF and reproductive endocrinology at Tel Aviv University and training in gynecological endoscopy with the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy.
Founder and medical director of CHITAI, Haiti's first IVF centre, he made possible the birth of several hundred babies and brought in vitro fertilisation to Haitian soil. That contribution to the treatment of infertility in Haiti has earned him numerous national and international awards.
A member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the Société de chirurgie gynécologique et pelvienne, he founded the Haitian Fertility Institute to carry that first achievement further: to treat, to train, to pass on.
